Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, who presided over the closed-door session, confirmed to newsmen that the dialogue with the Npower representatives was both productive and reassuring. He explained that following his direct call to the Honourable Minister, immediate steps are now in motion to release the funds.

According to the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the stipends owed were captured in the 2022 and 2023 budgets but were not funded as scheduled. The government has since secured approval via the Service-Wide Vote and payment activation will take place within the 2025 fiscal year.
He further stated:
We are treating this as a top priority under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The Npower beneficiaries will receive their entitlements soon.
Legal Action Suspended After FG Assurance
The legal representative of the Npower group, Barrister Abba Hikima, confirmed that court action is now on hold due to the Senate’s intervention and federal assurances.
The government owes my clients about ₦81 billion. We’ve suspended legal proceedings based on the positive response from the Senate and federal ministry,” Hikima said.
