The Federal Government, through the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has officially announced that the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Program will begin nationwide in August 2025.
This initiative is part of Nigeria’s effort to build a skilled workforce, especially among young people.
TVET Training Start Date 2025
The training is set to kick off in August 2025 as confirmed by NBTE Executive Secretary, Mr. Idris Bugaje.
TVET Training Categories Explained
The TVET program is divided into three specialized training tracks:
1) Master 12 Program
- Duration: 1 Year
- Focus: Advanced technical skills
For: Individuals seeking deep vocational mastery
2) Master 6 Program
- Duration: 6 Months
Includes:
- ₦180,000 tuition support
- ₦22,500 monthly stipend
- Startup capital on completion
- Official Certificate
For: Quick-skill acquisition and entrepreneurship
3) Technical College Track
- Duration: 3 Years
- Target Age: 13–20 years
Designed for young students to learn technical trades alongside education.
TVET Training Centers Across Nigeria
The training will take place in:
- Federal Government Training Centers
- State-Owned Technical Centers
- Approved Private Training Institutes
